Penn Medicine
Same station, healthy new name
Campaign Objective
Penn Medicine, a clinical and research entity of the University of Pennsylvania, wanted to improve patient commutes at a SEPTA station that serves as the main gateway to its hospital’s West Philadelphia campus.
Our Solution
Intersection enabled Penn Medicine to go big and sponsor the nearby SEPTA station with exclusive naming rights, designating the rail terminal as Penn Medicine Station in a five-year, $3.3M deal, with an option to extend up to nine years. This sponsorship allows Penn Medicine to improve riders’ commutes with train station upgrades, signage, and real-time transit information.
To support the campaign, Penn Medicine ran high-reach bus and rail media, along with digital out-of-home station media announcing the renaming to the community. The station’s renaming drew numerous PR and social media mentions and generous attention from the local press, amplifying the sponsorship’s reach and impact.
